Content Policy
Prohibited content categories (adult, illegal, hate speech, malware, deceptive) and restricted categories (gambling, alcohol, political), plus ongoing compliance obligations for user-generated content.
Advlume requires that all publisher sites comply with the content policies of Google Ad Manager and the demand partners in the network. Publishing prohibited content results in reduced or eliminated demand from affected partners — and in severe cases, account suspension.
Prohibited content categories
The following content types are not permitted on any site in the Advlume network:
- Adult and explicit sexual content — pornography, graphic nudity, or sexually explicit material of any kind.
- Illegal content — content that facilitates or promotes illegal activity, including piracy, hacking tools, drugs without prescription, counterfeit goods, or weapons.
- Hate speech and discrimination — content that promotes hatred or discrimination based on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or nationality.
- Violence and graphic content — gratuitous violence, gore, or content designed to shock or disturb.
- Dangerous or misleading health content — misinformation about vaccines, unapproved medical treatments, or dangerous dietary advice.
- Malware or phishing — sites that distribute malicious software or attempt to steal user credentials.
- Deceptive content — fake news presented as real journalism, clickbait with misleading headlines that do not match article content, and false endorsements.
- Incentivised engagement — content that asks visitors to click on ads, share pages for rewards, or otherwise artificially inflate engagement metrics.
Restricted content categories
The following categories are permitted under specific conditions, but may have reduced demand due to advertiser restrictions:
- Gambling: Legal gambling sites in jurisdictions where online gambling is permitted may be accepted on a case-by-case basis. Contact your account manager.
- Alcohol: Content about or advertising of alcohol is restricted in some regions. Age-gating may be required.
- Political content: News and opinion sites covering politics are permitted. Content that primarily serves a political campaign or advocacy purpose may have limited demand from certain DSPs.
- Financial advice: Content providing financial advice must include appropriate disclaimers. Sites that impersonate regulated financial advisors are prohibited.
Ad placement restrictions
Even on approved sites, ads must not be placed in ways that violate demand partner standards. See Ad Placement Policies for specific restrictions.
Ongoing compliance
Advlume periodically re-evaluates sites in the network for continued compliance. If a site's content changes significantly after approval — for example, if new content sections are added that contain prohibited material — Advlume may suspend ad serving on the affected sections or the entire site pending review.
Publishers are responsible for ensuring their entire site (including user-generated content in comments or forums) meets these standards. If your site has a comment section or user-generated content area, you must moderate it to prevent prohibited content from appearing.
Reporting a policy concern
If you believe your site has been incorrectly declined or suspended due to a content policy determination, contact support@advlume.com with your site URL and a description of the concern.
